With the update patch having just been added to gears 2 this is a prime time to look at the new DLC maps for which may have been over looked due to the problems, the game has had with online play which, have mainly been fixed with the new patch.

So what do you get with your 800ms points you get the combustible map pack which contains 3 new maps Gold Rush, Flood, Fuel Station and also adds 7 new achievements to the game worth 175gp three of which belong to the combustion map pack and also three for the flashback map pack and one based on both map packs which in all makes the games gamerscore 1175gp in total right now.
Now while 2 maps from the pack are designed for gears 2 while gold rush is an old pc gears map which has been updated for gears 2.

Flood is the most dramatic of the 3 maps as it sees you fighting in a city on the edge of a sinkhole leading into an emulsion lake while all the time fighting to get a foothold on the map also Epic have added there trademark surprise like the avalanche on avalanche as the emulsion flood around the map will rise without a moments notice to consume areas of the map and unwary players in a torrent of juice, this also changes the key dynamic of the map as it cuts off areas of the map which forces the player to change their style of fighting also never making the map feel to contained yet always having an eerie presence.

Fuel station on the other hand has a view of a city backdrop with the fighting taking place around a fuel station that just happens to be owned by chaps everyone’s favourite meatshield this map has a few surprises in store such as a lift to allow fast access to the roof and fuel trucks primed to go boom at the first sign of a fire fight.
Where as the last map sees you fight on a huge drilling platform full of crossed beams and walkways. All of the new maps are fun to play in multiplayer or horde, the best map has to be Gold Rush as it is the most balanced of the maps and you never feel overwhelmed even in the fiercest of fire fights.

Add to this that all power weapons are well placed so neither team has the upper hand from the start. So are the combustible maps worth your hard earned cash, yes if you are a regular gears 2 player and are looking for a new challenge, though at a hefty sum of 800ms points then this DLC may just appeal to the hardcore gears 2 players.
